Crochet Sacred Heart Tapestry Afghan Chart Graph Free


Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn : I used Red Heart Yarn. 3 ounces of medium blue for the background, and less than 2 ounces each of variegated red for the heart, hunter green for the thorns, yellow and orange for the flames and a variegated orange for the second edging round.
Hook size is aluminum H/5.00mm
Gauge: 4 sc =1 inch 4 sc rows =1 inch
Size: Before edging = 9 inches x 10 ½ inches. After edging = 13 inches high x 11 ½ inches wide

Instructions:
To change colors, work the sc just before the new color starts but don't complete it. You will have 2 loops on the hook. Drop old color and pull new color through. The last sc is completed and now you have the new color on hook. Keep all yarn on the wrong side of the square. Work over unused yarn. I made separate balls of blue for the back ground. When working on the wrong side of the piece, be careful to make you stitches in the correct stitch. Always look closely at your work and move the unused yarn away from the stitch you need.

Row 1: With Blue, ch 33, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each rem ch. (32 sc) ch 1. Turn
Row 2: Sc in each sc. (32) Ch1. Turn
Row 3: 17 blue, 2 red, 13 blue. Ch 1,turn.
Row 4: 12 blue, 5 red, 15 blue. Remember to keep your yarn strands on the even side of the square.
Row 5- 42: Follow chart At the end of row 42, ch 3 and turn
Edging:
Fold top of square in half. Mark center stitch. You will be making 3 evenly spaced shell groups before this st, then you will make a shell in this marked stitch, then make 3 more evenly spaced shell groups after the marked stitch. In the last st you will make a corner shell.
Rnd 1: I will give the step by steps for this :Working in the same space as the turning ch-3, 2 dc in same sp. This is the first half of the beginning corner shell. Skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, skip 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st---this is your marked st, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, skip 3 sts, 3dc in next st, skip 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, work a corner shell of ( 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in last st.
You will have a partial corner shell, seven 3-dc shells and a completed corner.
Working down side of square, work 9 evenly spaced 3-dc shells with a corner shell in last st.
Working across bottom of square, work 7 evenly spaced 3-dc shells across with a corner shell in last st.
Working up the side of the square, work 9 evenly spaced 3-dc shell across.
To complete the first partial square, work 3 dc in the same sp, ch 1, insert hook into top of begining ch 3, drop blue, pull a loop of orange through to complete stitch. Ch 3. Do not turn
Round 2: 2 dc in same st, working in between the shells, shell in each sp, working a corner square over a corner square. At the end of round, change colors as in rnd 1. Ch 3
Rnd 3: With blue, rep rnd 2. To complete final corner square, 3 dc in same sp, ch 2, sl sti top of beg ch-3. Sl st across, next 3 dc. Fasten off. Weave in yarn tails.
